  • A Walk in Lebanon

    The Illinois Trekkers invite you to “Come Walk With Us” along Lebanon’s Belleville, St. Louis, Madison, Main and Center Streets to see a variety of architectural styles from Greek Revival, Gothic, Italianate, English Country, Queen Anne, Georgian and Southern Colonial. You will enjoy walking through the McKendree University campus. McKendree was founded in 1828 and is the oldest college or university in Illinois. Be on the look-out for the Secret Garden and the Mermaid House Inn. After walking be sure to enjoy the Annual Fall Festival and all the wonderful eating establishments in Lebanon, Illinois.   • Cuba, MO Mural Walk

    Traditional Guided Walk sponsored by International Wanderers. Walk features a series of beautiful building murals highlighting the history of Route 66 and the town of Cuba, Missouri that were commissioned starting in 2001 as part of Cuba’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2007. Today, 14 murals are maintained throughout the town, and Cuba is known as “Route 66 Mural City”. Walk is on primarily paved surfaces with minimal incline/decline. Please note this walk may be completed as a one way 6km, with either a short Uber/Lyft back to your car or an additional 1.1 km walk to your car for 7 km total, or as an out and back for 12 km total.   • Clayton Walk

    Traditional Walk sponsored by the Gateway Milers. The city of Clayton is the County Seat of St Louis County and is know as the second downtown of the St Louis area. In 1876 the City of St Louis split off from the county and a new location for the County Seat that was not more than a half days ride from the city of St Louis was searched for. Ralph Clayton donated 104 acres to the county for the County Seat if the area would be called by his name. This 104 acres is now the area of the main business district. The city of Clayton is known for it bustling business district and its pleasant residential areas.

    Note: park location will not get you to pavilion. See specific directions that follow: From I 170 exit at Ladue Rd. Turn right(east), Ladue Rd becomes Maryland Ave. Turn right on Forsyth Blvd, then right onto Brentwood Blvd. Shaw park will be n your right. Continue south on Brentwood Blvd until you see the Forest Park Parkway overpass. Before the overpass turn right on Shaw Park Dr. Stay to the right and continue to the parking lot for the shelter.

  • Bellefontaine Cemetery Walk

    Traditional walk sponsored by St. Louis Walkers. The walk route consists of two 5k loops, and you will see many interesting headstones and crypts. The cemetery is planning on having two crypts open with volunteers to tell the story behind each one. So, plan to have time to enjoy this wonderful opportunity. The cemetery has their own 5k trail with a map and information brochure. You will see their numbered markers as you walk our trail. Plan to come back and enjoy it if you do not have time or energy to do both today. NOTE: This walk is on SUNDAY, October 31. The Cemetery requests you DO NOT wear Halloween costumes.
