  • Ramblin’ in Red Bud
    8:30 am-11:00 am
    2024-10-05
130 S Oak St, Red Bud, IL 62278, USA

The Illinois Trekkers invite you to walk/ramble in historic Red Bud.  When city lots were initially sold at public auction in 1849, the site was covered with red bud trees, from which the town derived its name. An important station on the stagecoach route between St. Louis, Belleville, Kaskaskia and Chester, the town was chartered in 1867. While ramblin’ in Red Bud, view the Opera House that is now home to the 1860 Public House and the Red Bud Museum. Beautiful homes fill the streets of Red Bud. There is a classic service station with a wrecker too. The exterior of the beautifully unique City Hall remains basically the same as built in 1894 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
