Corrected driving instructions to start point for walk.
From Illinois( I-270): take IL-255 North to Exit 6 route IL143 turn left on IL-143. Stay in left hand lane after going through Wood River to stay on IL-143 at Route 3 intersection. IL-143 turns into Landmarks Blvd. at Clark Bridge in Alton. At second light after bridge turn left on Henry Street. Turn left on to Riverfront Drive to Picnic Shelter (behind the Liberty Bank Amphitheater).
From St. Louis (I-270 N): take MO-367/67 North across Clark Bridge, turn left onto Landmarks Blvd. At second light turn left on Henry Street. Turn left on to Riverfront Drive to Picnic Shelter (behind the Liberty Bank Amphitheater).

Come help celebrate the Bicentennial of the state of Illinois. Walkers will view the Lincoln-Douglas Debate site & will continue through historic Alton, Illinois. Alton was part of the Underground Railroad during the Civil War & home to Robert Wadlow, the tallest man. Walkers can view the Robert Wadlow the Tallest Man Statue. Those wishing to join the Underground Railroad Tour should make reservations for the 1:00 pm tour by calling 800 258-6645 or sign-up online: visitalton.com/shuttle. Cost $25 per person for a 2 hour tour. Starts at Visitor Center, 200 Piasa Street.
