The Illinois Trekkers invite you to walk with us in Belleville, Illinois on New Year’s Eve 2017. Belleville is French meaning “Beautiful City”. Join us for a walk along Main Street (It is claimed to be America’s longest Main Street. True or not, it is the longest in Illinois!) We will walk most of downtown Main Street with the fountain decked out for the holidays, Christmas decorations, the lights over Main Street, and the Gingerbread creations in the store windows. Dress accordingly for the winter weather. Registration for the walk will be at the Balance Coffee and Tea, 732 South Illinois Street (Illinois Highway 159), Belleville, Illinois. Registration time will only be from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. At 5:30 there will be a guided group walk. Please plan to join us for dinner after the walk. We will be gathering after the walk for dinner at 4204 Main Street Brewing Company from 7 – 10 p.m. (Cocktails at 7, dinner at 8), We will order from the menu. Way of Lights Walk at The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Belleville, IL November 14, 2017
Experience over one million miniature lights illuminating trees, figures, and displays that depict the true Christmas story. This walk is like no other walk in the area. Bring your family and friends to enjoy an awesome evening. The Shrine is not open for public display during this event, so minimal traffic will interfere with your enlightening walk experience. Bring a flashlight to light the way as you walk though the Way of Lights and see the renovated stations of the cross.
Soup Walk O’Fallon, Illinois November 4, 2017
Soup Walk & Community Food Collection starting at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rock Springs Nature Center is on the 5k loop that goes through Rocks Spring Park. Please bring one can of soup per person (CHICKEN NOODLE OR VEGETABLE BEEF). The soup will be added to a pot for poor man’s soup pot for the soup and bread social following the walk. All walkers can share in soup, hot bread, and fellowship. Desserts will be available for a nominal donation. Walkers are asked to bring one or more nonperishable item(s) to donate to the O’Fallon Food Pantry.
